Verwood seek new reserve team manager

VERWOOD chairman Steve Jefferis says the Wessex outfit is keen to develop its relationship with Rossgarth Youth – the club which discovered Eddie Howe, Steve Lovell and Matt Tubbs.

Cherries boss Howe, striker Tubbs and ex-Dean Court frontman Lovell were all brought up in the Verwood area and had their talents honed at Rossgarth from an early age.

Verwood are looking to recruit a reserve team manager to help strengthen the links with Rossgarth and maintain the excellent work of Richard Stainer, who is due to step down in the summer.

The successful applicant will run the Potters’ Wyvern League team and work closely with first-team manager Adie Arnold.

The club is looking for someone with experience of team management and say a good knowledge of the local non-league scene would be an advantage. Jefferis said: “Richard has been in charge for two spells and has done an excellent job. We would like to thank him for his efforts and know he will be a hard act to follow.

“Our links with Rossgarth are becoming stronger and we are looking to develop the relationship further, offering a good route into senior football for young talent in the area.”

For more details or to apply, contact Jefferis on 07968 036393 or e-mail sjefferis@mbhplc.co.uk. The closing date for applications is March 28.

Meanwhile, striker Lee Burch has left Verwood following a brief spell at the club to take his first managerial post at Wessex One strugglers Hythe & Dibden.

The Potters, who are tonight due to travel to the Isle of Wight to face Newport, visit AFC Portchester on Saturday (3pm).
