Boss Gray: Scoreline harsh on Bash

BASHLEY boss Frank Gray felt the scoreline gave a harsh reflection after his men had suffered a 4-1 away loss against title favourites Leamington.

The hosts, odds-on to win the Southern Premier crown, flexed their muscles and proved too strong for struggling Bash on Saturday.

Former Aston Villa and QPR striker Stefan Moore fired the Brakes into a fifth-minute lead before Charlie Knight levelled for Bash. Liam Daly restored the Leamington lead just after the break before late goals from Richard Batchelor and Ricky Johnson completed the scoring.

Gray told the Daily Echo: “We conceded a bad goal early on, got back in the game and had a great chance to go 2-1 up. You have got to take your chances.

“The scoreline makes it look as if we were soundly beaten but that certainly wasn’t the case in the game.”

Meanwhile, Bash have announced that they will hold an Extraordinary General Meeting on March 21 to discuss their potential relocation to Fawcett’s Field to join forces with New Milton Town.

The meeting will be take place in the clubhouse at Bashley Road from 7.30pm.

  • Wimborne Town’s poor Division One South & West form continued as they lost 1-0 at Taunton Town.

Steve Cuss’s men were left without a victory in five league matches following Rodney Marsh’s 63rd-minute goal at Wordsworth Drive.

Magpies boss Cuss said: “We totally dominated the first half and had five good efforts on goal. In the second half, it was the total reverse and we couldn’t get going.”
