Hammers battle back after half-time ear bashing
HAMWORTHY United produced a fightback to draw 2-2 with Verwood Town – after receiving an interval ear bashing from boss Simon Browne.
Furious Browne revealed he had ripped into his men at the break after what he described as a “dire” and “awful” display in the opening 45 minutes.
Verwood led through John Webb’s penalty at the County Ground. Lee Chudy levelled within a minute of the restart but Nathan Saxby then struck to restore the visitors’ lead.
However, Sam Pekun ensured a share of the points, with both managers in agreement that a draw had been a “fair” result.
Browne said: “I had to read the riot act and make a couple of changes at half-time. The second-half display was much better.”
Verwood boss Adie Arnold said: “We dominated the first half and should have been 3-0 up, but Hamworthy got the response they wanted.”
