Bash boss Gray aiming to shock league leaders
7:00am Friday 8th March 2013 in Non league football
BASHLEY manager Frank Gray has tasked his men with sticking to their footballing principles as they bid to spring a surprise at Leamington.
The New Forest outfit will have their work cut out to continue their promising form when they visit the Southern Premier leaders tomorrow (3pm).
Bash clawed themselves six points clear of the drop zone with a 1-0 home win over Arlesey last Saturday and a goalless draw at relegation rivals Redditch United on Tuesday.
Those successive clean sheets have given Gray’s team a handy cushion over their counterparts in the lower reaches of the division.
And despite a few injury worries, boss Gray is hoping his players will make the most of a good pitch by producing their best football when faced with the league’s pacesetters.
He said: “We will be positive and try to get something from the game.
“I am told they have a decent surface at Leamington and that will suit our lads and the way we want to play.
“With the run we have been on, we should be in a good frame of mind.”
“We have to take a lot of confidence from our performances and the clean sheets we have kept recently.”
Matt Finlay (arm) and George Colson (ankle and shin) are both doubtful, while Tim Stephenson (hamstring) remains on the sidelines.
