Defending worries Magpies boss Cuss

WIMBORNE Town manager Steve Cuss admits his team’s defending must improve if Magpies are to recover from their midweek knockout blow.

Magpies contributed to their own downfall as they were dumped out of the Southern League Red Insure Cup 4-3 by Sholing in the third round on Wednesday night.

Boss Cuss will be hoping his men can immediately bounce back from that last-gasp defeat when they return to Division One South & West action.

Seventh-placed Wimborne, who are eight points adrift of the play-off zone, entertain Didcot Town at Cuthbury tomorrow (3pm).

Cuss told the club’s official website: “I was disappointed with our defensive performance at Sholing.

“We must work harder from a defensive point of view.

“Didcot have some good individual players and, without a doubt, this will be a hard game for us.”

Striker Tom Jeffes (groin) is the only injury concern for Wimborne, while goalkeeper Jason Harvell looks likely to return between the sticks.

Magpies: (from) Ackerman, Arnold, Cole, Costello, Maybury, Sainsbury, Blake, Hubbard, Kemble, Smith, Webb, Roast, Peprah-Annan, Brian, Davidson, Jeffes, Harvell.

  • Bashley are set to receive a treble fitness boost ahead of their Premier Division home meeting with Chesham United at the Recreation Ground (3pm).

Boss Frank Gray is likely to include James Stokoe, who was ill last weekend, as well as Andrew Jenkinson and Elliot Wheeler after the loan duo overcame injuries.

Bash: (from) Moore, Strickland, Oliver, Stephenson, Middleton, Richardson, Casey, Gradwell, Foster, Finlay, Hill, Gamble, Knight, Gazzard, Stokoe, Jenkinson, Wheeler, Kearn.
