Magpies boss Cuss wary of Boatmen
7:00am Wednesday 9th January 2013 in Non league football
WIMBORNE Town manager Steve Cuss has warned his players to ignore Sholing’s lowly league position as the Magpies bid to progress in the Red Insure Cup.
The Boatmen, who tonight host seventh-placed Wimborne for a place in the last eight, currently prop up Division One South & West of the Southern League (7.45pm).
However, like Wimborne, Sholing have already claimed two memorable scalps in the competition having seen off Premier Division pair Gosport Borough and AFC Totton.
Cuss, whose charges disposed of Bashley and Poole Town, told the Daily Echo: “I think their league position is false. They have games in hand and their squad is far better than their current placing suggests.
“They have reached the play-offs in our division for the past three years so it is another gauge for us in terms of our development and how far we have progressed.”
Cuss welcomes back goalkeeper Jason Harvell from suspension and Kevin Gill from illness.
He added: “Having Jason and Kevin back will spice up competition for places and keeps everyone on their toes. I am pleased to have a fully-fit squad.”
