PARLEY captain Roshan Embalagama refused to get carried away despite his side moving 11 points clear at the top of the Dorset Premier League with two games to play.

The hosts racked up 20 league points after posting 305 for nine against Blandford , while closest rivals Wimborne & Colehill took just 12 from a tied match with Poole Town .

But despite opening up a gap, Embalagama insisted that the title race was far from over.

He told the Echo: “We’re taking it game by game – you can’t think that you have it won, especially after we lost out to Poole last season. We have to give our best in each game.

“I thought Wimborne would lose their game – usually Poole and Parley dominate the league, so it is good that another team is more competitive this season and that result is why we’re not thinking we’ve won the title just yet.

“Everyone can beat everyone, and with the new points system this season, we could have a problem if one of the games is rained off.”

Parley’s Mark Morley (118) led the charge with his third century of a productive season, recording 18 fours and four sixes, including one over where he amassed 24 runs.

Jack Rowett (42), Keiran Price (36) and Rob Gunn (35) all scored well as the leaders set a big target.

Neil Summerson (5-25) gave Blandford little hope of a recovery and, backed up by quality bowling from Price (2-21) and Rowett (2-29), Parley dismissed the visitors for 129.

Embalagama added: “I was pleased with Mark Morley’s innings and Neil really well. It is great to be top after we lost our first three matches at the start of the season.”

Ferndown Wayfarers, meanwhile, suffered a seven-wicket defeat to third-placed Broadstone who had James Brown to thank for five catches during the hosts’ innings.

Opening the batting, Wayfarers scored steadily but never sustained any momentum at the crease.

Neil Sexton (40) top-scored on the day, supported by Dean Elsworthy (35). Influential Eric Linge, though, had a bad afternoon when he was trapped in front by Joe Manley and the rest of the team struggled their way to a total of 170 from 50 overs.

Ferndown started well with Robbie Stammas (2-32) taking two wickets with the Broadstone score at just 28, but Dom Hand (50*) and Brown (42) started to score well and Simon Watkins’s unbeaten 23 saw the visitors over the line.
