Big knocks not enough for Lymo
7:00am Monday 2nd July 2012 in Cricket
BATTING aces Ali Jaffer and Darren Cowley starred for Lymington but Havant shone brightest to claim the honours at the Sports Ground.
Jaffer struck an excellent 95 and with good support from skipper Darren Cowley (57), the hosts looked set for a big total before collapsing to 216 all out.
Lymington still gave themselves a good opportunity of claiming their third win of the campaign as they reduced Havant to 137 for six in reply.
But captain Richard Hindley (55*) kept his cool to steer home the visitors, with Scott Mills contributing a quickfire 30 to help seal the three-wicket win.
• New Milton climbed to third in the Division Two standings after they had got the better of Andover at Fernhill.
Captain Ryan Beck (3-15) and Dan Loader (3-18) led the way as Andover were dismissed for just 134 (Luke Scully 46).
Decent knocks from top-order duo Lee Beck (43) and Steve Watts (36) put Milton in charge before Nick Elliott (19) helped complete a three-wicket win.
