BATTING linchpin Nick Park admits the lure of the Caribbean sunshine will provide an added incentive as he looks to guide Bournemouth to national glory.
The Dorset batsman will take his place at the top of the order when the Lions compete in the Cockspur Club Twenty20 finals day at Derby on Monday.
Craig de Weymarn’s team take on Reigate Priory of the Surrey Championship in a semi-final (12.35pm), with the opportunity of setting up a final showdown with either Cuckney or Ockbrook and Borrowash.
The victors of the competition at Derby’s County Ground will also win the chance to represent England in an international tournament in Barbados.
Asked whether that trip would enter his mind, Park admitted: “Being honest, yes it would be good. If we play like we did in the previous round, we’ll be a match for anyone in one-day cricket.”
Park, 24, is hoping his team-mates excel in front of the Sky TV cameras, with the finals day scheduled to be televised on Sky Sports 3 from noon.
He told the Echo: “Everyone’s looking forward to it in front of the Sky TV cameras.
“Apart from David Payne, no one has played in front of the cameras before. He’s played two one-day games for Gloucestershire and both were on TV.
“We’ve got a young team and hopefully no one will freeze in front of the cameras. We’re going into the first semi-finals as underdogs but we have been underdogs in other games.
“Reigate Priory have got a couple of lads who play for Surrey, but we’re not worrying too much about the opposition.
“If we ended up winning, it would be an awesome end to the season.”
