Naik century spearheads Parley victory

SECOND-placed Parley kept up the pressure on leaders Bournemouth with a six-wicket win over Christchurch.

Christchurch looked set for a big score until their fourth wicket fell on 178 and they could only muster a further 37 runs before being bowled out for 215. Ollie Green (3-22) was the pick of the bowlers, along with Jack Rowett (2-30) and Rob Gunn (2-23).

In reply, Parley made a tentative start, losing two wickets for just 29. But Sam Collins (60) and Raj Naik put on 139 for the third wicket, with Naik going on to make 103 not out from 86 balls to help Parley to 217-4.

Poole Town captain Ben Dyson slammed the St Georges wicket as his side crashed to 77 all out.

Dyson (26) and Mark Bennett (11) top-scored for the visitors, but later described the Dorchester-based side’s pitch as a “disgrace”.

Dyson added: “The match was played on a shocking wicket, which was too dry and had been used the day before.”

Despite a further seven wickets falling in St Georges’ reply, the hosts eventually scrapped home on 78-7.

Kingston Lacy’s score of 169 looked to have put them in a commanding position at home to Henstridge, but despite the efforts of Rob Hatchard (2-34) and Barry Park (2-40), Henstridge made it to 171-6 to win with just eight balls remaining.

Blandford made 225-7 to beat Cranborne, who could only manage 206 all out in reply.

Luke Carter’s 50 saw his side home, while Cranborne’s Charlie Arnold (3-58) and Josh Goodchild (2-23) did their best with the ball. In reply, Cranborne’s Dan Loader (52) and Phil Park (40) made some headway against tight bowling from Dan Brockway (3-49).
