DESTRUCTIVE Ed Denham announced his return to the Minor Counties arena with three devastating blows against Wales.

The Bournemouth all-rounder, who was making his comeback after a three-year Dorset absence, proved the match-winner in the sides’ opening Unicorns T20 showdown at the Leaze.

Chasing 117 for victory, the hosts needed 17 from the final over with Denham smashing three maximums off the first three balls to seal a three-wicket win.

He finished unbeaten with 28 coming from 15 deliveries.

Having elected to field, Dorset’s Mark Wolstenholme took three for 23 to help restrict Wales to 116-7.

Jigar Naik’s men were also aided by two run-outs, which included dangerous batsman Brad Wadlan.

Opting once again to bowl in the second T20 showdown, Dorset could only contain Wales to 146 for seven.

Opening batsman Sean Griffiths scored 60 from 40 deliveries before being run out by Naik, Wolstenholme was once again in the wickets with two for 29.

But with the hosts closing their innings on 126 for six, they succumbed to a 20-run defeat.

Dorset, who have four wins from six T20 games, are level on points with Devon at the top of Group Four.
