YOUNGSTER Ollie Breckon is set for his Bournemouth first-team debut when they visit Old Tauntonians & Romsey on Saturday.

The teenage seamer has impressed skipper Chris Park, who insisted he deserved his opportunity to feature in the Southern League Division One showdown (12.30pm).

Park told the Daily Echo: “Ollie will make his debut for the first team. He has impressed me all winter and even last season. He is a Bournemouth lad and has come through the youth ranks.

“He played against Lymington in our pre-season friendly and his time is now to have a go either opening the bowling or coming on first change depending on conditions.

“He is at nets every week and attended our winter training sessions. He is coming on really nicely. He deserves his chance and good luck to him.”

Breckon is set to come into Lions’ line-up as one of two changes from the opening-day victory over Andover.

Park has recalled former skipper Martin Miller, who struck an unbeaten 89 when the teams met at Romsey Sports Centre in July 2016. Dan Conway and Dave Kidner are unavailable.

Old Tauntonians opened their campaign with a four-wicket loss at Hook & Newnham Basics.
