JOSH Digby produced a fine all-round display as Dorset got their season off to a winning start against Somerset’s academy.

The Bashley all-rounder scored 41 from 53 deliveries at the top of the order to help his side post 259 from their allotted 50 overs, having won the toss and opted to bat first.

And Digby was the pick of the bowlers as Dorset skittled out Somerset for 137 in 34 overs at Taunton Vale.

He claimed four for 30 from his six overs as the visitors won by 122 runs.

There were two wickets apiece for Scott Currie, Ben Walker and Dom Clutterbuck. Stand-in skipper Luke Webb scored 68.

Dorset’s Unicorns One-Day Trophy campaign begins with a preliminary round battle against Cornwall at North Perrott on Sunday (11am).

The winners of that tie will next month go on to face Berkshire in the first round.
