Gunaseelan Sithambaram's lower-order onslaught catapulted Dorset Indian Tigers to a record-breaking score of 400 against Wimborne & Colehill's third XI.

Batting first in the Dorset Funeral Plan League encounter at Colehill Cricket Club, the Tigers were initially kept on the leash by the hosts' attack, with opener Saeed Khan's quickfire 41 the highest score among the visiting top-four.

But Shafiq Aria came in at five and climbed into the Minstermen's bowling. He hit seven fours and six sixes in his 73, before Tyson Luis played a similarly destructive hand, the number seven's 69 containing seven boundaries and five maximums.

Sithambaram's knock, which featured three sixes and 12 fours, lifted the Tigers up to a league-record 400 for eight from their 45 overs, with Matt Fooks's three for 58 the tidiest figures returned by any of the beleaguered, eight-strong home attack.

Wimborne & Colehilll's Jim Williams immediately went on the offensive in reply, his 168 coming off 143 balls.

The opener's dismissal by Tahir Rafiq (1-38) proved key, however, as, despite 77 from Kevin Hall, the home side ultimately finished 95 runs short of their target on 306 for five.

Dorset Indian Tigers victory saw them jump to fifth in Division Three, while Wimborne & Colehill remain second-bottom.
