DANNY Hammett's swashbuckling knock inspired Broadstone to an emphatic 90-run victory over Dorchester – with a hat-trick of wins taking them to the top of the pile.

Hammett (70) hit four fours and two sixes in his 78-ball stay, his exploits helping the visitors post a challenging 213 for seven at Dorchester Recreation Ground.

And it was a total which proved well out of the hosts' reach with Jonathan Colegate (4-15) and Matt Spraggs (3-18) their chief tormentors – the duo showing no mercy to the Dorchester tail.

Luke Carter (27) and Ross Tooley (23) shared 50 for the first wicket as Broadstone made a promising start.

And after both had gone in quick succession, Daniel Cook (26) and Colegate (41) maintained the momentum.

Although Connor Tarr was trapped in front first ball at 92 for four, Colegate and Hammett put on 92 for the fifth wicket to guide Broadstone to 184 for five.

Hammett was the last man out, caught by Simon Mitchem off the bowling of George Foot.

Colegate soon had Dorchester in the mire, removing openers Ben Macklin and Dan Belt with the scoreboard showing just nine.

And the hosts were in real trouble at 38 for five after Mike Holm (2-17) had accounted for Will McKay and Quenton Miller, and Steve Trembath (1-14) had claimed the scalp of Mitchem.

However, a stoic sixth-wicket partnership of 83 between Simon Joslin (42) and Josh Richardson (29) threatened to turn the tide in Dorchester's favour as they reached 121 for six.

But Colegate and Spraggs clinically nipped their comeback hopes in the bud, the pair taking just 10 balls to clean out the final five Dorchester batsmen for the addition of just two runs as they folded for 123.

A superb all-round bowling display from Poole Town's J-Force earned them a convincing 71-run triumph over new boys Martinstown at Poole Park.

Joe Riddell, Joe Wilson, Jordon Randall and Jamie Thomas ensured Poole Town would defend with relative ease a modest 133 for nine.

Riddell (3-13), Wilson (2-13), Randall (2-16) and Thomas (2-18) took the game away from Martinstown from the off, the visitors' top scorer Mike Kennedy-Barnard mustering a paltry 10 as they were routed for 62.

Poole Town made an uncertain start to their innings with top three Badrul Alam, Tom Robinson and Luc Kear all back in the pavilion at 28 for three.

And as wickets continued to tumble around him, it was left to Joe Wormington (31) to dig in his heels.

He remained undefeated at the close and shared the hosts' highest partnership – 28 for the 10th wicket with Wilson – as Poole Town closed on 133 for nine.

Skipper Ryan Norman dubbed Pete Richards 'The Finisher' after he had steered Swanage to a three-wicket victory over champions Wimborne & Colehill.

Richards (49) showed great composure as Swanage survived a wobble to pass the Minstermen's 185 for five with nine balls to spare – their third win on the trot.

David Guest (81), James Williams (30*) and Harrison Bowles (23) were the mainstays for Wimborne, whose total was boosted by 70 from the final eight overs (Richards 2-18).

In reply, Swanage lost openers Mike Nash and Francis Kerins with just seven on the board before a crucial third-wicket stand of 92 between Ben Baczala (42) Ian Booth (41) repaired the early damage.

But after they had both fallen in quick succession, the game was back in the balance.

However, the arrival of Richards swung the pendulum in Swanage's favour, his knock proving defining despite the best efforts of Bowles (3-33).

Captain Norman said: "It was a really good win against the defending champions.

"A super team performance saw us through what was a huge game.

"The bowling and fielding were again top drawer and, until late on in the innings when a few lusty blows got them up to a respectable score, we were on top.

"Ian Booth and Ben Baczala were really good with the bat and set up Pete 'The Finisher' Richards to again see us home."
