DORSET host Berkshire in a critical Unicorns Knockout Trophy contest on Sunday (11am) seeking to exorcise the ghost of their most recent encounter with the same opponents.

Chris Park's team must win the match at North Perrott to guarantee their progress to the quarter-finals of a competition they last won in 1988.

Dorset have won two of their three games to sit second, but level with Devon on four points, in a five-team qualifying group.

While Devon face a meeting with winless Cornwall, Dorset will seek to topple a Berkshire side with a flawless record in this season's competition.

When the teams met in Championship action in August, Dorset were skittled for 96 and 84 to lose by 327 runs.

Captain Park told the Daily Echo: "They well and truly thrashed us so we have to erase that. But we are familiar with them, we know their strengths and weaknesses.

"Berkshire are an extremely good side, a complete side and something we aspire to be in the next couple of years. We want to test ourselves and give them a good game.

"I’m still disappointed we lost at Devon in our first match. But it’s a one-game shootout now, and we are ready for it."

Dorset: Whorlow, Ellis, Porter, Webb, Naik, Waller, Park, Thomson, Wolstenholme, Currie, Hayman. Twelfth man: Barber.
