MARTIN Miller hopes the comforts of home will allow Bournemouth's batsmen to express themselves against Division One leaders Portsmouth tomorrow (1pm).

Bournemouth managed just 93 all out in the defeat at Rowledge last week, having totalled a modest 130 at Andover a fortnight previously.

Lions captain Miller revealed how he hoped a batsman-friendly pitch at Chapel Gate would yield an improvement in his team's efforts with the willow.

He told the Daily Echo: "The pitches we played on at Andover and Rowledge were the ones I was least looking forward to going to.

"That said, clearly, we've got to put partnerships together which we haven't done this year and some of us need to get some runs.

"We've only played one home game and Chapel Gate is a lovely place to play as a batsman.

"If we bat well then I have every reason to think our bowlers will bowl every side out in the league.

"If we put runs on the board we will start winning matches."

Henry Bartlett could be unavailable for the clash and Chris Bollom may be called on as cover. Jake Hurley returns for Jon Lombard, who is unavailable.
