DORSET skipper Chris Park will be interested to see how his charges shape up against the star-studded opposition provided by Hampshire at Bashley (5pm).

Following the sides' battle at Dean Park last summer, Park is hoping his players give their professional counterparts another strong test to ensure the fixture remains in place in the coming years.

Speaking ahead of the T20 clash, Park said: “A lot of the boys know Hampshire quite well having been part of Hampshire's academy – the likes of Luke Webb, Ryan Scott and Michael Porter.

“They have grown up with and played against a lot of their current squad.

“It’s part of Hampshire's T20 warm-up and, as a minor county, it’s great to play against a professional side and we are looking forward to playing against a quality team."

Sam Thomson and James Hayman are set to miss out for Dorset, who are expected to go into the clash with a squad of 13.

Hampshire's initial line-up had included batsman James Vince but he was subsequently called up to the England squad for the first Test against Sri Lanka at Headingley.

Nevertheless, the likes of Tino Best, Jimmy Adams, Michael Carberry, Liam Dawson and Sean Ervine are expected to play.

Lewis McManus, who recently cracked two centuries for Dorset in the Unicorns Knockout Trophy, is unavailable due to commitments with Hampshire's second team.

Park added: “In a friendly situation against a professional side I think it’s fair we give everyone a taste.

"We are probably looking to play with 13 just to give the young lads experience.

“We are looking forward to playing against them and giving them the best test possible so we can keep this fixture in the diary for years to come.”
