ROB Pack and Arsalan Abbas shone as Bournemouth earned victory in the first round of the Royal London Club Championship.

The duo took four wickets apiece in the victory at Potterne as Bournemouth triumphed by six wickets.

The visitors won the toss and elected to field, with Luke De Souza and Clyde Williams building up a promising partnership for Potterne.

However, after De Souza was caught for 45 by Aaron Richards off the bowling of Pack, matters swiftly went downhill.

The Wiltshire outfit had been on 86 for one but were swiftly dismissed for a paltry 119 after Bournemouth ran riot.

Pack took four for 20 and Abbas four for 28, while James Palmer and Matt Jones dismissed the other two batsmen via run-outs.

Bournemouth’s reply was a relatively straightforward affair, even despite the early dismissal of Jake Hurley.

Jon Lombard’s unbeaten 42 proved the cornerstone of the visitors’ success and Jones’s 31 in combination with Lombard ensured Bournemouth reached the target for the loss of four wickets.

Elsewhere, Lymington saw off Portsmouth at the same stage. Lymo made 155 for seven and Portsmouth were dismissed for 131.
