DORSET will next season stage home matches outside the county for the first time in their 119-year history – but will also be staying in Bournemouth.

The county was forced to seek alternative venues as Dean Park – their headquarters in recent seasons – will no longer be available to them.

Park School, which last year took a license for use of the site and facilities at Dean Park, intends to utilise the pavilion as a crèche.

As a result, Dorset will be unable to host Minor Counties Championship and Knockout Trophy matches at the ground as it no longer meets their requirements.

Dorset will stage games at Bashley in Hampshire and at North Perrott in Somerset, while the county will also remain in Bournemouth and play at Chapel Gate.

Bashley will host a one-day game early in the season, while North Perrott in Crewkerne will stage a one-day and a three-day game.

Chapel Gate will stage two Minor Counties Championship matches.

Dorset also have plans to appoint a professional to their playing staff, while former skipper Sean Walbridge is the county's new chairman.

Ex-Essex captain Paul Prichard was last month unveiled as the county's new coach, as revealed exclusively by the Daily Echo.
