POOLE Town surrendered the Dorset Saturday League summit with a 55-run defeat in their top-of-the-table clash at Sherborne.

Dolphins bowler Jamie Thomas (3-22) saw off Sherborne opener Luke Hancock, Kyle Hopper and Shane Snater for single figures but James Elliot-Square (61), Emlyn Khun (58*) and Tim Durston (48*) saw the hosts post 238 for six.

Poole were quickly in trouble when their opening three batsmen fell for single figures and despite the best efforts of Lewis Marais (31), Richard Armstrong (29), David Miller (32) and Joe Wormington (28), saw their response limited to 183 all out. Ian Booth’s unbeaten 70 helped Swanage claim a two-wicket home triumph over Parley – albeit with the last ball of the day.

Ollie Shrubsole (43), George Wilson (42) and Isaac Beaglehole (31) pushed Parley to 179 for eight and although Owen Morris (4-35) shone with the ball for the visitors, Booth’s contribution proved decisive.

George Bartlett (4-32) was the hero of the hour in Wimborne & Colehill’s three-wicket home win over Martinstown.

He helped hold the visitors to 238 for seven before Colin Randall (58), David Guest (59) and Joe Weld (37) fired the Minstermen to 242 for seven with less than two overs to spare.
