CAPTAIN James Park hailed the recalled Toby Edwards after New Milton scraped to victory for the fourth time in four weeks.

The Southern Premier League Division One title hopefuls grasped a three-wicket win at Liphook & Ripsley with three balls to spare after an incredible fightback.

The charge was led by teenager Edwards, who bludgeoned 84 off 66 balls to help the Green and Golds beyond the 191 target.

And the triumph followed nervy victories at Hartley Wintney, Calmore and Bournemouth, respectively.

Park told the Daily Echo: “We were dead and buried at 62 for five. We couldn’t get the ball off the square!

“But then Toby had an unbelievable knock. It backed up his recall to the team, which is always pleasing as a captain. He did some really clean hitting and his partnership with Lee Beck won us the game.

“Toby is only 19 and is one of the youngsters proving invaluable to the club at the moment.”

New Milton remain top as a result of the win but Park, part of the 2014 team that dramatically missed out on title success, is adamant the job is far from done.

He said: “We’ve been here before but, hopefully, the boys will learn from the experience of last season and go one better.

“We have a tough run-in with Hook, Basingstoke and Bournemouth still to play.”
