JAMES Morris's knock of 63 underpinned Bashley's four-wicket success at Alton in the Southern Premier League.

The Berkshire batsman rattled up his total in just 64 deliveries as the visitors chased a lean 128 at Jubilee Playing Fields.

Alton had earlier been bowled out before lunch with a disastrous start doing them no favours.

The hosts lost their top three batsmen – two to Kevin Nash (2-28) and one to a Chris Ridley run-out – before they got 20 runs on the board.

Dorset off-spinner Sam Thomson (5-28) cut through the Alton middle order, taking five of the next six wickets to fall, with Michael Heffernan (24) the only batsman to provide creditable resistance.

Alton were in danger of a rapid humiliation and Bashley looked to be cruising to an easy win.

Morris (63) and brother Richard (23) put the visitors well in control but from 93 for two they contrived to lose four wickets to leg-spinner Jack Myers (4-25).

However, Thomson (10) and Tom Jacques got Bashley across the line with four wickets in hand.

High-fliers Bashley face a stern test of their credentials on Saturday when they face fellow high-fliers Hampshire Academy at BCG.
