CAPTAIN James Park believes New Milton have the weapons to launch a serious charge in the Southern Premier League T20 Cup.

New Milton host Langley Manor in the first round on Sunday (3pm) in what is due to be the second of three games in three days.

The Green and Golds are set to travel to Andover in Division One tomorrow (1pm) while they face a visit to neighbours Lymington in the first round of the New Forest President’s Cup on Monday (6.15pm).

Park is keen for his team – unbeaten in the league this season – to continue that form in the T20 format and says it is achievable.

He told the Daily Echo: "In our side we have everything that's geared towards T20 cricket. We have a young side, a good fielding unit, big-hitters who can clear the boundaries and a steady bowling attack, which bodes well.

"We should be able to continue our form in the league in the T20. It would be nice to have a run in the competition and get some money over the bar.

"We are looking to go as far into the competition as we can. In my first season at New Milton in 2013 we managed to get to the T20 semi-final where we lost out to South Wilts, the eventual winners, by 17 runs.

"We probably should have beaten them and last year we were knocked out in the first round but won the plate competition.

"I don't know too much about Langley Manor as I've only ever come up against them once before. That is one of two big games this weekend and the team is looking forward to it. "

New Milton are set to keep an unchanged side in the league with wicketkeeper Will Crossley due to replace Ben Lawes in the T20 encounter.
