MARTIN Miller has urged Bournemouth to “do the basics better” or face the prospect of a third straight Southern Premier League loss.

Bournemouth have just five points on the board following the opening two weekends of the Division One campaign.

The Chapel Gate side host Hartley Wintney tomorrow (1pm), a side who also have yet to win in the league this year.

Skipper Miller said: “We got what we deserved from the first two games so we can have no complaints. We would have wanted more than five points at this stage of the season, that’s for sure.

“We came up just short last week, largely down to our own doing, and the first day of the season was just a day to forget. We have just got to do the basics better than we are doing them at the moment. and get back into a winning groove.

“Pitches at this time of year are not conducive to shot playing. Sides that are the most attritional win matches and we haven’t done that in the past two weeks.

“Had we done that I have every confidence we would have won both. If we don’t do it on Saturday, the same will happen.”

Bournemouth are without unavailable trio Ben Bridgen, Gurpreet Singh and Jake Hurley. Batsman Andy Hayward is recalled while all-rounder Jack Owens and seamer Salman Khattack also come in.
