A WEIGHTY third-wicket stand helped Broadstone register their first win of the Dorset Saturday Premier League campaign with a 113-run victory over Swanage.

Broadstone won the toss and elected to bat, with Pete Russell run out for 10 before Jordan Watts (two) was caught by Ryan Norman off the bowling of Steve Kent.

At that stage, the visitors had just 37 on the board but the combination of opener Luke Carter and Matt Jones proved fruitful.

Carter made 51 before he was dismissed in the same manner as Watts, the Broadstone total having increased to 155 by this time.

Dan Cook's spell at the crease was brief and Jones was finally removed for 76 as he was bowled by Norman.

A handful more runs were added and Norman ended with figures of two for 33 while Kent took two for 38.

Chasing 215, Swanage were quickly in trouble as Ian Booth and skipper Ricky King were dislodged for just 11 runs.

Ben Baczala (28) put up resistance but wickets were swiftly falling and when Baczala departed, Swanage were 52 for five.

Mike Hernandez (10), Ashley King (14) and Steve Kent (19) were the only other batsmen to get into double figures.

Collins, Mike Holm, Steve Trembath and Peter Thompson all took two-wicket hauls as Swanage were bowled out for 102 in the 36th over.
