DORSET trail Herefordshire by 51 runs after a low-scoring start to their Unicorns MCCA Championship match at Eastnor.
Openers Liam Gwynne (44) and Nitesh Patel put on 64 for the hosts’ opening wicket, but while Dave Exall (35) and Ben Stebbings (27) added a further 60, Dorset duo Tom Hicks (6-45) and Sam Thomson (3-24) wiped out Herefordshire for 151.
But the visitors also found runs hard to come by with home bowler Brad Wadlan (6-27) in fine fettle, claiming the scalps of opener Max Porter (28) and skipper Chris Park. Luke Webb (31) top scored as Dorset were bowled out for 120.
Hicks took out Gwynne with the last ball of the day to leave Herefordshire’s second innings on 20 for one at the close of play.
