CORFE Mullen completed their first season in the top flight by registering a comprehensive nine-wicket win over last season’s runners-up Swanage.

Skipper Peter Hoar, who guided Corfe Mullen to the Division Two title 12 months ago, remained undefeated at the close as they coasted home.

Hoar (55) shared an opening stand of 61 with Richard Witherington as the hosts made light work of chasing Swanage’s paltry 87.

Witherington (15) was the only Corfe Mullen man to lose his wicket as Hoar and Ben Jones (10) saw them home inside 20 overs.

Earlier, Witherington had starred with the ball as Swanage had been put to the sword by some sensational Corfe Mullen bowling.

Witherington (4-11), James Shilton (3-11) and Tom Vaughan (2-21) combined to rout the 10-man Swans, with only three batsmen reaching double figures.

Meanwhile, Winton comfortably won their shoot-out with last season’s champions St Georges for third place, the Bournemouth team triumphing by 70 runs.

Having finished fifth 12 months ago, Winton (245-8) posted a formidable total before restricting St Georges (175) and ended the campaign six points clear of their rivals.

Runners-up Dewlish (228) beat second-from-bottom Ferndown Wayfarers (159) by 69 runs, while cellar-dwellers Cranborne scratched against champions Fovant.
