MICHAEL Jordan’s late scoring spree proved in vain for Corfe Mullen as second-placed St Georges emerged from a tight clash with a 13-run victory.

An 87-run partnership between Sam Goodhew (55) and Rob Cole (25) laid the foundations for the visitors’ 212 (Zeeshan Haider 3-48, Sam Stroud 3-41).

In Corfe’s reply, Peter Hoar and Witherington fell for single figures as the hosts were left reeling on nine for two (Matt King 2-25).

Sam Mills (65) and Ben Jones (54) steadied the ship with a third-wicket stand of 89 but never looked likely to reach the required run-rate to win the match.

Up stepped Jordan to fire an unbeaten 62 from just 39 deliveries, including six fours and two sixes, but his ferocious fightback was too little too late as Corfe finished on 199 for five.

Elsewhere, bottom club Cranborne were left to rue the abandonment of their clash at Shillingstone. After posting 256, play was stopped with the hosts on 110 for four and both sides were awarded 12 points.

And Dave Coy’s men were done no favours by nearest rivals Ferndown Wayfarers managing only their second win of the season. Despite being dismissed for 117 at Dolman’s Farm, the home side skittled Swanage for 94.

Winton’s winning run was halted by a 23-run defeat at Fovant who were crowned champions.

Despite being dismissed for 152, the hosts tasted victory after bowling out Winton - who were chasing a revised target of 141 - for 118.
