Trialist Tyrone sinks Swans
TRIALIST Tyrone Amory bagged a first-half winner as Cherries rounded off their Pontin's Holidays Combination campaign with a 1-0 victory over Swansea at Dean Court today.
The striker, who was on Derby County's books, was joined in the Cherries starting line-up by defenders Matt Hartmann and Rhys Coleman and midfielder David Bridges.
Hartmann progressed through the ranks at Portsmouth, while Coleman is due to be released by Charlton at the end of the season. Bridges has played for Cambridge United and Kettering Town and has represented the England National Game XI.
Bridges twice went close to extending Cherries' lead after Amory had scored with a well-taken left-foot drive in the 10th minute. Coleman and Amory were both substituted after 55 minutes having played trial games elsewhere on Tuesday.
Cherries reserve team boss Eddie Howe said: "I thought Swansea played very well. They are a good footballing side, just like their first team. They were stronger and better technically but we showed great endeavour and effort to come out with the win."
Cherries: Pryce, Reeve, Hartmann, Rose, Coleman (Queree, 55), Bridges, McQuoid, Finlay, Wilson, Hutchings (Newton, 78), Amory (Ings, 55). Unused subs: E Cooper, Burbridge.
