MATT Vokes emulated his big brother by netting for Cherries’ youth team as Joe Roach’s side claimed a 3-1 victory over Cheltenham on Saturday.
Vokes, younger sibling of Wales international striker Sam, came off the bench before making his mark.
With Danny Ings bagging a brace, it was a productive match for Roach’s men.
“The only thing we’ve lacked in the past couple of months is quality in the final third, but it was probably the best performance for some time in terms of ball retention and creating opportunities,” said head of youth Roach.
“The passing and movement in the second half, which is something we’ve been working on for five weeks, was really good.
“I’m pleased for the lads because it was about the 11th game in just over a month, but they came alive.”
Cherries youth: Thomas, Annetts, Stephenson (Strugnell, 47), Magookin, Preston (Vokes, 65), Burbidge, Webb (Hester, 58), Hill, Green, Davidson, Ings.
