GOALS from Kyle Taylor and Keelan O'Connell helped Cherries book their place in the last four of the Hampshire Senior Cup.

Carl Fletcher’s men earned their semi-final spot with a 2-0 victory over National League Eastleigh at Silverlake Stadium.

Having seen the vast majority of the ball in the opening exchanges, Cherries had to call on goalkeeper Mark Travers to pull off a sharp stop in the first half.

He did well to keep out Oliver Dennett’s near post header and keep the score goalless.

But a slick set-piece move put Cherries ahead three minutes before the interval. Taylor shifted the ball onto his right foot and smashed into the corner.

Despite the Spitfires working Travers once more through James Constable, Cherries doubled their advantage on 64 minutes.

After a mistake in the home defence, Mikael Ndjoli played in O'Connell, who applied a precise finish to wrap up the tie.

The result meant Cherries progressed to the semi-finals for the third time in four years.

Fletcher’s men join Sydenhams Wessex Premier Blackfield & Langley, Southern League West Winchester and National South Havant & Waterlooville in the last four.
