JORDON Ibe's stunning strike helped Cherries register a hat-trick of pre-season wins following a 1-0 triumph at QPR today.

And it was a goal Stan Bowles would have been proud of – with the benefit match organised to raise funds for the Rangers legend who is suffering from Alzheimer’s.

Bowles, 68, was among a crowd of more than 9,300 at Loftus Road to see Ibe net the only goal four minutes before half-time.

The frontman capped a lively individual display when he unleashed an unstoppable left-foot strike past Alex Smithies to bring up his second goal of Cherries' warm-up campaign.

Ibe opened Cherries' account in the 2-1 win over Estoril in Marbella a fortnight ago with Eddie Howe's men beating Portsmouth by the same scoreline last Saturday.

Cherries made a flying start and should have drawn first blood inside the opening 60 seconds, only for Joshua King to blast his shot over the crossbar after Lys Mousset had dummied Max Gradel's low cross.

Rangers also went close in the early stages when Josh Scowen contrived to fire wide with the goal at his mercy before Matt Smith had a couple of chances in quick succession.

Supporters from both teams and benches rose to applaud Bowles in the 10th minute – with QPR having retired their number 10 shirt for the coming season in honour of the Rangers legend.

Gradel's effort from the edge of the box was blocked by James Perch before Conor Washington dragged his shot wide of the target when well placed midway through the first half.

Ibe squandered a glorious chance to test Smithies when he side-footed wide following a superb through ball from Lewis Cook before Mousset's acrobatic overhead kick also failed to trouble the Rangers goalkeeper.

As Cherries continued to fashion chances, Mousset's thunderous low drive flashed past the upright before the visitors finally made the breakthrough in the 41st minute.

Ibe despatched a rasping left-foot strike into the bottom corner, giving Smithies no chance, having collected the ball wide on the right and surged into the 18-yard box.

King went close to doubling Cherries' lead eight minutes into the second half but was denied by Perch's last-ditch intervention.

The striker was replaced by Kyle Taylor after 61 minutes having taken what appeared to be a minor knock.

Cherries' front three combined to carve out an opening for Mousset but Smithies was equal to the Frenchman's effort following excellent build-up play from Gradel and Ibe.

England under-19 goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale replaced Artur Boruc with 20 minutes remaining before Gradel fired over the crossbar as chances continued to come thick and fast.

Cherries survived a late scare when Yeni Ngbakoto's free-kick came back off the post and struck Ramsdale on the back before being gathered by the teenage stopper.
