CALLUM Wilson’s deadly double snatched the spoils for 10-man Cherries to cap a defiant second-half display at Bolton.

Wilson produced a pair of polished finishes – the first within a minute of the restart – to plunder maximum points from a match that had threatened to drift away from Cherries following Jay Spearing's lobbed equaliser.

Yann Kermorgant saw red nine minutes before half time for a high challenge on Wanderers midfielder Mark Davies, the second of a pair of match-defining first-half decisions by referee Andre Marriner.

Wilson was denied a seemingly sure-fire penalty when Marriner gave a free kick on the edge of the penalty area for Matt Mills’s push on the Cherries hitman who appeared to be comfortably inside the 18-yard box when the infringement took place.

Boss Eddie Howe named four changes to the Cherries team that lost 2-0 at Derby on Tuesday. Loan keeper Artur Boruc replaced the suspended Lee Camp, while Charlie Daniels made a return to the starting XI for Ian Harte.

Kermorgant came back in for Eunan O’Kane and Marc Pugh was utilised out wide with Junior Stanislas making way.

Cherries almost suffered a nightmare start as Craig Davies peeled away down the left within 12 seconds but Boruc was on hand to block with his legs and Steve Cook mopped up the danger.

Undeterred, the visitors forced Bolton keeper Andy Lonergan into his first save when Matt Ritchie drove down the right and cut back for the bright Kermorgant to thump a first-time shot from the edge of the box.

Bolton kept probing andHarry Arter was caught in possession in a dnagerous position but a 20-yard shot from Mark Davies was charged down.

Boruc was again tested at his near post by Craig Davies after the home striker was threaded down the left.

The tigerish Mark Davies continued to cause the visitors problems, shrugging off Andrew Surman and Arter to find Lee Chung-Yong whose well-weighted ball for Craig Davies had to be cut out by a perfectly-timed sliding tackle from Cook.

Ritchie’s low drive from the edge of the box had Lonergan at full stretch to tip round the post and Cherries steadily began to up the ante as a customary crisp exchange down the right between Simon Francis and Ritchie ended with Kermorgant’s drive being charged down by Mills.

Wilson then won a physical tussle with left-back Tim Ream to cut back for Pugh but the winger's rising shot just cleared the angle of Lonergan’s post and crossbar.

However, the balance of power swung on two controversial decisions in a matter of minutes by Marriner.

Firstly, Wilson burst between two defenders down the left and into to the Bolton penalty area before being shoved by defender Mills with Marriner's free-kick call leaving most at the Macron Stadium bemused.

Kermorgant’s free kick from the left was destined for the top far corner of the net until Mark Davies headed off the line and the Frenchman’s afternoon soon took a turn for the worse.

Contesting a loose ball in the Bolton half, Kermorgant clumsily caught Mark Davies with a high challenge and Marriner immediately produced a red card.

Wanderers sought to take advantage straight away and Jermaine Beckford’s driving run ended with a Craig Davies shot rolling agonisingly past the far post with Boruc beaten.

However, after a scoreless first half it was Cherries who made the breakthrough within a minute of the restart.

Another swift combination between Francis and Ritchie led to Wilson jinking inside to calmly tuck away a composed finish from close quarters.

Within minutes it was nearly two as Ritchie left Mills on his backside but cut in to shoot wide of the near post and Cherries were made to pay for that near miss on 52 minutes.

Bolton poured forward on the break and worked the ball into Spearing whose dipping effort from distance appeared to take a deflection before sailing over Boruc but under the crossbar.

Buoyed by the leveller, Wanderers almost took the lead four minutes later with Ream rolling Craig Davies into space but his deft, chipped effort across goal brushed the bar with Boruc beaten.

Bolton became increasingly dominant and Boruc was forced into another low stop when Lee cut inside and fired a fierce, testing effort from outside the box.

There were further scrambles but a controlled-yet-quick move saw Cherries snatch the lead for a second time with Arter’s sumptuous ball finding Wilson to chest down, turn and carefully caress the ball past the exposed Lonergan.

The goal deflated the struggling hosts and Cherries set about successfully stifling the game.

Bolton offered little in the dying stages and in a desperate attempt to level even sent up keeper Lonergan for a late corner.

Substitute and top scorer Joe Mason had a through ball smothered at his feet by the ever-alert Boruc as the clock ran down and it was who Cherries held out for a precious victory.
