CHERRIES came from a goal down to salvage a point at Norwich and preserve their 63-year unbeaten run at Carrow Road.

Former Dean Court favourite Lewis Grabban nodded the Canaries in front in the 15th minute but Cherries summer signing Callum Wilson slammed home the equaliser in first-half stoppage time.

Boss Eddie Howe made three changes to the side that suffered a 3-2 defeat in their last Championship outing at Blackburn seven days ago.

Right-back Simon Francis returned from a hamstring injury after a three-game absence and Ryan Fraser replaced Matt Ritchie on the right wing.

Dan Gosling was drafted in for his first Championship start in a Cherries shirt at the expense of striker Yann Kermorgant, as Howe switched to a 4-5-1 formation.

Grabban started against his former club but there was no place in the Canaries squad for Andrew Surman, strongly linked with a switch to Dean Court this summer.

Grabban caused problems as early as the third minute when he hassled Steve Cook into an error and delivered square across the six yard box, only for Eunan O’Kane to rifle clear.

Gosling sliced well off target from range before the hosts took the lead after a quarter of an hour.

Following good work by Steven Whittaker, right-winger Nathan Redmond beat Charlie Daniels and whipped in a teasing cross which Grabban powered home with his head.

Clearly pumped up against his former side, Grabban won the ball in midfield and swept a yard past the upright from 20 yards, before Kyle Lafferty fired straight at Lee Camp moments later.

Cherries’ frustrations in the final third for the opening 30 minutes were summed up when Daniels’ free kick from the right bounced harmlessly into the arms of England international John Ruddy.

Norwich appeared a potent attacking force and they nearly doubled their lead in the 38th minute, when Wes Hoolahan teed up Lafferty in a tight space and the Belfast-born man lashed over the crossbar.

Redmond’s cheeky free kick from a tight angle was pawed behind by Camp and the keeper did well to scoop the ball away from the feet of the onrushing Lafferty soon after.

Cherries had not mustered a single shot on target in the regulation 45 minutes but they silenced Carrow Road with a shock leveller in added time.

Following Stanislas’ measured diagonal pass, the motoring Francis crossed first-time and Wilson arrived at the perfect time to slam home his fifth goal of the season.

The visitors were a much more composed outfit after the break but half-chances for Bradley Johnson and Gosling were all either team had to show for the opening 18 minutes.

Centre-half Michael Turner nodded wide for the Canaries before Wilson flashed a cross-cum-shot across the face of goal at the other end.

Cook did well to force the well-placed Grabban away from goal with the front man well placed and substitute Josh Murphy drilled over the crossbar after cutting in sharply from the left wing.

Cherries appeared to be running out of steam but they still carved an opening when Matt Ritchie picked out fellow substitute Marc Pugh with a chipped ball and the wide man’s half-volley was batted down and collected by Ruddy.

The home side piled on the pressure in the closing stages but Cherries held out, with Camp tipping over Johnson’s free kick with minutes remaining.
