Darren keen to stay on
 |
| SKIPPER: Darren Anderton |
INFLUENTIAL skipper Darren Anderton has hinted he would consider extending his stay at Dean Court despite Cherries' relegation to the bottom flight.
The 36-year-old former England international is one of a host of players whose contract is due to expire at the end of June.
Anderton, who was sidelined for four months during mid-season, returned to help breathe new life into Cherries' unlikely bid to avoid the drop last month.
He told the Daily Echo: "It's been a real pleasure to play with the lads for the past few weeks. I'm just hopeful we can keep this group together and, if we do, then I think I'd like to be part of it. At the moment, I would have to say I would like to play again next season.
"The past few weeks have been amazing. For me, it's been a privilege to play with the lads. The team I left in November and the team I've been playing with recently is totally different.
"I think they have all grown as players and been outstanding. A lot of that has been down the fact that we haven't been able to bring in loan players so they have had to play and have improved as players.
"The improvement in some has been unbelievable and I'm sure a few of them will go on to have good careers so you can take positives from this season.
"It's all doom and gloom at the moment but you've got to be realistic. The 10-point deduction did for us in the end. I think everyone knew at the time that it made it a mission impossible and it has proved that way. But we gave it a good go."
Anderton again pulled the strings in midfield as Cherries enjoyed the lion's share of the first half at Brunton Park.
He added: "We're very disappointed and it was a really tough way for it to happen. Their goal seemed a little bit suspect to me in terms of offside.
"I think it was just one of those days. I thought we were the better team, we played well again, had chances but it just wasn't to be.
"We were the better team, especially in the first half. They came at us for a 10-minute spell in the second half and scored their goal. But the guys reacted well and came back into the game.
"I think they had one good chance and scored. We had a couple, which, on another day, may have ended up in the back of the net."

Sorry Sick Note next season will be about guts, lasting more than 60 minutes and not giving free kicks away because lack of pace means a foul.
Thanks for some nice memories but no passengers next time round.

We need to keep him, he can give so much to the younger players and he still has the extra something, if anything it would be great to see him in a player coach role so that if he does miss any games we are still getting his input, it's class we need next term and not just guts.

We need to keep him in my view. He can still pass it great and is an infulential figure in the squad. He can be inspirational to the youngsters we have throught what he has achieved.

Yep, the travelling appears to have proved too much for Fletch who wants a job closer to his family. So how about Eddie, Fletch and Joe taking over from the current regime. Let's get back to basics which includes reducing our salary bill and expensive personnel like Bond, Newman and Anderton
As much as I would like Anderton's experience next season I can't see how we can justify his play as you play arrangement unless he is prepared to take a big wage cut - if he thinks that much about the club may be will...?

I think Fletch will go to Weymouth or even Salisbury. Although he's definitely leaving it open for a return... and I hope he does...
Bond deserves to keep his job for certain. He's made mistakes, but he's learning from them quite obviously.
Anderton is class. I dont think he'll wanna play anywhere else, He's here because he still wants to play and is close to home, not for the money. We're lucky to have him.

Great now we want another player in Fletch who spends most of the season injured and earns more than most of the players, haven't we been moaning about just those players all season, the whole Fletch thing is a farce it's living on past glories, if we are ever to move forward we need to be bringing in the younger players and not bring back players well past their best, I know he holds emotional attachments with the club but you can't keep going backwards if you ever want this club to move forward, what difference would he really make on the pitch?

After watching his recent performances I think we need to keep him and indeed put him on a pay as you play contract. Cant belive people want him out He is still a good player. Bond should get rid of the likes of Perrett and Tessam first . Foleys contract is up so if he cant prove his fitness he will go as well pity because he was a good player but we cant afford to be paying the long term sick next season .

But you cant run a Team on sentiment We had an example of looking after your buddies with the signing of Perrett and Telfer. I dont think Bond will sign players for sentiment again. Even if JM comes up with some real money we will still have to be careful how we spend it and I think Bond will not be stupid enough to sign Players who he wont get a full season out of as he has done in the past. Much as we would all love to see him back

Yes he was classed as mr Bournemouth, unfortunately he did not have the talent to go with it. Though I do remember after about 10 seasons he scored a hat trick. We need 20 a seasdon players and not sentiment
