Josh: We can bounce back
 |
| CHANCES: Josh Gowling |
JOSH Gowling felt the rub of the green deserted Cherries as their five-year stay in League One came to an end at Brunton Park - the scene of their last game in League Two in 2003.
The defender told the Daily Echo: "We were robbed because their goal was offside. It should never have been allowed to stand and that could have been the difference between staying up and going down.
"It's hard to take but we can't just put it down to that. We had plenty of chances which we didn't take and could have put the game beyond them.
"Normally when you come to Carlisle, you would take a 1-1 draw. There was always a chance that it might be good enough but it just wasn't to be. I have never experienced anything like this. It's horrible."
Gowling added: "Everybody is very disappointed that it ended this way. But the lads have been tremendous. We've stuck together and have knitted together more in the past seven weeks than ever before.
"We've played some good football and we've played the football that the fans were used to. It's just so hard to take.
"People might say the seven games don't count for anything but they do. We've put in some good performances. People probably thought we were gone once we had gone into administration but we held our heads high and went for it.
"If we had lost the 10 points at the start of the season then maybe it would have been a bit different. Maybe we could have kicked on. But it was difficult because we had it towards the end of the season.
"If we go into next season knowing we've got a points deduction then maybe we can work on it from the start. We've got a good squad here and, if we can keep it together, there is no reason why we can't bounce back."

So the next question from Neil Perret was... nothing! Shouldn't he have then asked Josh if he wanted to be part of that squad? It is sort of implied that he would but why wasn't the question asked?
