Bond happy to take Sean favour
BOSS: Kevin Bond
BOSS: Kevin Bond

BOSS Kevin Bond knows he may need to call in a favour from his predecessor Sean O'Driscoll - but not before Cherries have kept their side of the bargain.

Bond's charges will be bidding to preserve their League One status when they meet promotion hopefuls Carlisle at Brunton Park tomorrow (3pm).

And while defeat would spell relegation, a point could be enough to avoid the drop should O'Driscoll's Doncaster beat Cheltenham at Whaddon Road.

Carlisle, Doncaster and Nottingham Forest are battling to claim the second automatic promotion berth, while Cherries, Cheltenham, Gillingham and Crewe are fighting for survival at the opposite end of the table.

Bond said: "We need somebody to do us a favour as well as doing one for ourselves, that's for sure. Everybody has got a job to do and nobody is going to lie down for us. Even if Carlisle had already been home and hosed, it could have been difficult because they could have played relaxed football.

"They might be a bit edgy because they were in second place for quite a while and have now got it to lose. Everybody needs points for their own reasons and I'm sure Sean wouldn't mind if he inadvertently did us a favour."

Bond added: "This is no small final hurdle for us and I don't think we could have picked a more difficult game. They are still in with a chance of automatic promotion and it is certainly not going to be easy but we are looking forward to it.

"Carlisle have had a little blip over the past couple of weeks but have still got the best home record in the division. We need to concentrate hard on the things that we've done well over the past few weeks and see where it takes us."

Although Cherries' record at Brunton Park is impressive, Bond is still searching for his first point against the Cumbrians since taking over at Dean Court last season. Cherries have claimed four wins at the venue in seven visits, while Carlisle have beaten Bond's side in the past three meetings.

Bond added: "They have certainly been a bogey side for us since I've been here.

"But we are aware of the position that we have got ourselves into with one game to go and we've just got to concentrate on trying to make the most of it. If we start getting carried away with this and that, and our minds start to wonder, then that could make things difficult."

Helped us a lot maybe but not recently must be confusing them with Pompey who have really helped us especially financially Be a good fixture if we stay up dont you think. As for Southern Club Sorry I support Bournemouth it matters not to me where other Teams are based it would guarentee a sell out with that fixture so Yes I do hope we stay up and Scumhampton get relagated . Didnjt see em rushing to our aid like Pompey did. Mind you they did when Redknapp was there but that was more to do with the Man than the Club
