CHAIRMAN Jeff Mostyn believes his latest cash injection has saved Cherries from certain liquidation - and given Kevin Bond's charges the chance to pull off the greatest escape in Football League history.
Mostyn was on Tuesday confirmed as the preferred bidder to take Cherries out of administration and, in a statement released exclusively to the Echo yesterday, he reveals how:
He has now found a partner to assist with funding the club.
Mostyn handed a cheque for £80,000 to administrator Gerald Krasner on Monday afternoon after the Begbies Traynor official called a press conference for Tuesday.
Krasner is understood to have been preparing to inform the press of the club's imminent closure after two other bidders, who were given until noon on Monday to lodge a £100,000 deposit, failed to come up with the cash in time.
And Mostyn, who now has total exclusivity with Krasner following his latest cheque signing, reiterated his disappointment after previous bids for the ailing club fell flat.
He said: "I made the decision late Monday afternoon. It became clear that no money was forthcoming from other bidders to provide the administrator with sufficient funds to save the club from the possibility of immediate liquidation, costing the club the chance of completing the season and possibly pulling off one of football's greatest miracles - survival in League One after a 10-point deduction.
"I couldn't let it go at the 11th hour and while I may not be the best man for the job, I am the only person who has stepped up to the plate every time there has been a need to provide funds to keep the club afloat.
"There may well be more qualified chairmen out there and there are certainly people waiting in the wings with considerably more wealth than me.
"But what I can tell you is there is no more passionate person than me, who was willing and prepared to help the club survive and move forward.
"All the speculation about the various multi-millionaires coming forward to save the club have resulted in nothing but despair for us all.
"Only three weeks ago I was stepping aside for a new group of people with great plans to take the club on.
"Unfortunately for us all, like many others, the bid did not come to fruition. I was as disappointed as all of our supporters.
"I now have the responsibility of putting forward a proposal to the administrator that will at last take the club out of administration and forward.
"I believe I have at last found a new partner to help me with the financial burden associated with running a football club - someone who will also provide a great deal of added value.
"In addition, Steve Sly will continue to be at my side as he always has been.
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank Steve for his amazing commitment and loyalty to me when others, to say the very least, have let me down badly.
"I am also, as a matter of urgency, looking to bring in senior executives to complement our existing staff and run the business on a day-to-day basis.
"I will also be talking to the supporters' trust chairman at the earliest opportunity next week to ensure we have a solid relationship with all of our supporters going forward.
"All I am interested in at the moment, however, is the game at Carlisle and my daughter's wedding on Saturday.
"Despite speculation, I am not going to make any further comments in respect of my partner or business plan until a formal agreement has been reached with the administrator."

Although many have slated Jeff over the last 18 months and particularly during the administration period, three cheers to him (and of course Steve Sly).
Come On You Reds!

Whether you happen to like Mr Mostyn or not - am I must admit I have certainly had very little time for him up to now - it is an indisputable fact that only he (and of course Steve Sly) has been prepared to put his money where his mouth is.
He is probably right. There probably are people out there who would make a better chairman than him, but without his help in the last two months we would never have had the chance to find out.
Rightly or wrongly he has been slated from practically every corner and it would have been much easier, and cheaper, to walk away.
Thanks Jeff.
Two days to go now lads. Go get 'em. I want to wake up the whole of Sydney with my celebrations!!!

There must be at least 150000 people in Bournemouth who have a reasonable income and for whom £100 would not impoverish them however think what club AFCB would be if each gave the £100? Of course I like many others would be asking for 100% transparency and honesty as the basic principle for running the club that being the case the club could be made to prosper and be run profitably. It always amazes me that there are those who would buy Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal etc kits for heir kids at great cost but are unwilling to support their local team. Before I get shot down I am not saying that people should not be free to support whom they wish however the point I make is that one’s local team should have some priority. I know that I am going to get some stick over this but thank God we live in a free country! Or do we?

Oh don't tell me, Mostyn pocketed it and then told everyone he was giving £80k to the club.
Fool.

Thanks Jeff, all true supporters are grateful to you unless we have the money to take on the club ourselves we have no control of who is in charge and you are certainly better than those we've had for a long long time hopefully you wont be let down again and we can support you and the team next year to the healthy end of the table and if you do get to read this enjoy the wedding. What are you suggesting? Im no massive fan of Mostyn but the guy is only one out there who is putting his hand in pocket at moment to keep club afloat.
So give the guy a break without his money we'd be ******! FACT

As there are near on 3000 season ticket holders, i would suggest that considering the amount of kids in the ground it was more like 50k which may have been used to pay the rent as it was due this week

JMs COMMENTS SOUNDS AND LOOKS LIKE IT CAME FROM THE HEART WHICH IS GOOD.
THE ONLY QUESTION THAT I HAVE IS, IS IT TRUE THAT THE TEAM HAS TO SPEND ALL DAY ON A BUS AND THEN PLAY THE MOST IMPORTANT GAME OF THE YEAR STRAIGHT AFTERWARDS?
WITH THE AMOUNT OF MONEY INVOLVED IF THEY EITHER WIN OR LOSE THIS SEEMS LIKE A POOR BUSINESS DECISION!

What a load of Hypocrites you are.
Not long ago it was Bond out - Mostyn out.
Do you really think the club is safe?
Are there Property Developers behind the scenes?
Would you take out an insurance policy with Mostyns Insurance Company? (I bet he has)
What happens in August when AFCB find we have Mostyn but no money - oh yes we call in the Administrator again who puts the club into liquidation!
Wise up you hypocritical comment writers, the battle may have been won for now, but the war isn't over, especially as the proceedings may be investigated.

Foregive me but i am puzzled by Mostyn`s comments. Firstly he states he has saved the club from Liquidation , then he states there are certainly people waiting in the wings with considerably more wealth than him.
Sorry Jeff i am confused ?
How could the club go into Liquidation if you Jeff know there is someone RICH waiting in the wings. Why not clear off and let these people in ? OR are you stopping them because you want a pay day yourself or is it your ego ?
You state that you are passionate about the club and want it to survive and yet it appears that you are stopping a wealthy person comming in , your words not mine or have i read your statement incorrectly ? You also state that you may not be the best man for the job ?
Again it appears that you have not YET even put a proposal to the Administrator ? your words again.
Then there is this new partner ? Why the secret Jeff come on be open with us all, you are just been like before. If i had had the time you have i am sure the business plan would be in place and i would bragg about my new found RICH friend.
THIS ALL APPEARS TO BE ANOTHER ONE OF JEFF`S DREAMS AND THE SOONER HE WAKES UP THE BETTER OTHERWISE WE WILL BE SUNK.
Up the Cherries and good luck to Bondy and the boys and it`s no thanks to Jeff and co that we have the prayer mat out on saturday.

Have you not read the Press about so called 'rescuers' who have said they would buy the club then when they had to come up with the dosh disappeared.
There is nothing stopping the 'supposed' two bidders from earlier this week joining forces with Mr Mostyn or after carrying out their feasibility studies of the club, taking over at a later date.
Mr Mostyn is not going to disclose who his partner is (a) without the partners permission and (b) not until the details of taking the club out of administration have been finalised. Anyone with any business sense would realise that.
For goodness sake give the man a break because the club can do without persistant cynics. at the end of the day the existence of the club is what is important.
Can all the people who think there have been wrong doings please await the Administrator final report.

Looking at how few are left though, I would make sure your ticket is bought BEFORE travelling.
As I live away from Bournemouth now, I was able to pay for my tickets over the phone (at b'm'th ticket office) and will collect them up at Carlisle before the game.

FROM BUZZ
I can confirm that a seventh coach has now been provided at the £10 rate for the trip to Carlisle - and the company that have made this possible is Begbies Traynor, the business charged with the club's administration process.
When approached by Buzz yesterday, it only took them 10 minutes to confirm that they would help out. They also sent their best wishes for Saturday, echoing Gerald Krasner's spoken desire at the recent press conference that he wanted the Cherries to give Carlisle a 'good thumping.'
More help required - and great publicity for businesses.
We still have a waiting list of fans wanting to go at the £10 sponsored rate and are still working on getting more people up to Carlisle.
We are going to publish a list of all those businesses that help us - they will go on to an AFC Bournemouth 'Heroes' section on the Buzz website. We are also asking the club to publish this information.
Both 2CR and Fire have already covered it - and are going to be doing follow ups. We also believe that it is going to be covered on the BBC and Sky.
We are looking to coordinate a big send off on Saturday, with the press present and of course the sponsors logos will be on the buses.
Part Sponsorship - each bus costs £700 to sponsor - but we can also do part sponsorships so if you have a business or work for a business that would like to become a hero, then please get in touch as soon as possible and help us make it a great day in Bournemouth's history - a celebration of passion and determination whatever the outcome on Saturday. The team and the fans have already shown what is possible - the momentum is there and can continue throughout the close season and into next. Looks like Bournemouth is starting to defy the accusation that we are 'not a football town'
The details are all on the Buzz website, as are the contacts.
Up the Cherries!

It is not garuteed that Bournemouth will be given 15 point deduction. Each club are looked at on an individual basis.
Lets hope we can find more sponsorship to get all the fans there. Over 1300 tickets sold and only on sale until noon tomorrow. none on sale at Carlisle.

My point was that i am baffled by Jeffs statement that their ARE people waiting in the wings with considerably MORE wealth than HIM. ?
If he knows that why does he not walk away and let them take over ?
He does not state that they ( who ever they are) are time wasters but he appears to know them and yet he will not let go , WHY ?
Is it his ego ? is it the fact that they will not pay his Debenture ?
Like i have stated i am baffled and Jeff will not as always spill the beans ? His statement is confusing and i for one would like to know who is waiting in the wings with considerable more wealth than Jeff and Steve, wouldn`t you ?
I am certainly not knocking Jeff i am puzzled and confused because if there is such a person then please Jeff let him/them have the club. Just hand it over, do the right thing before it`s too late because we all know that sadly you do not have enough money to splash on the club and your family asked you to give it all up ( remember). I also thought that you had had your parting gift presented on the pitch ?
Hold your hands up Jeff and see if these wealthy people step forward, swallow your pride because you could fall.

TOWER RED, I have read his statement 5 times and it does not make sense. For me he has never stepped aside and never will unless he gets his money back that will be Krasners fees and his debenture.
The fact is sadly he has NO money his family know that and so do we. Of course he would like to carry on , his ego insists on that, he loves the TV people chasing him. The truth is we are where we are because of him and others and throughout his tenure we have not progressed. He falls out with people who criticize him and seems not to understand the finances of a business. He will struggle from day one , no matter which league we are in ( hopefully div 1 ) not many sponsors or fans will back him because they know he is a fool and at times nasty. Sorry Jeff the truth may hurt but you are bringing OUR club not YOURS down. Please walk away and then see who comes forward , you have stated that there is someone there, so tell us all and lets see if they step up to the plate. If not then we are stuck with you. Go on do something right for once. PLEASE !

I couldn't let it go at the 11th hour and while I may not be the best man for the job, I am the only person who has stepped up to the plate every time there has been a need to provide funds to keep the club afloat.

"There may well be more qualified chairmen out there and there are certainly people waiting in the wings with considerably more wealth than me.
Right I have slagged JM off relentlessly but I can see alittle bit of humility here and a Man who is saying look Ive cocked up but I want to help the Club. For the second time and I may have it rubbed in my face again but at least he is trying to rebuild his bridges so until he does anything to prove otherwise I think we should leve him alone . As for Mike Cleggs comments I think there may be other People waiting but they didnt come in when it mattered and if they are waiting for JM to get the Debt wiped and then are going to come or if its for some cotractural reason involving other Clubs ect then so be it I just want a Club to support next season Good luck Lads

Sorry the shock of me saying something nice about good old Jeff must have made me pess the button twice. Seriously I just think he has at least said (as Bond did) that he has made a pigs ear of it so time to give the bloke a chance what else have we got. Either he is genuinly trying to hold out Olive branches or he has a bloody good PR bloke but I think this time he might mean it so I am going to lay off for a while

1. He did put the money in that let us continue trading
2 . He has put that extra 80k in to keep us going
I dont know and proberbly never will now what his reason are but in real terms for the moment he has saved the Club and much as it may seem like Hypocrisy to you we have to face facts. And even if you are right and we do go out of business in the close season. What possible advantage would there have been to go out of business last Monday. As far as I am concerned the Jury is still out on Jeff and I think its fair to say he knows that but because of him we live to fight another day and I for one will at least give him credit for that. What really is hypocrisy is so called Supporters coming on here seemingly reveling in the demise of our Club. No the Club is not safe and it wont be for quite a while but it is a damm site safer than it was last Monday.

"Please walk away and see who comes forward" is not exactly a policy that any business would recommend now is it especially as they have not exactly been forthcoming so far.

[bold] If Mostyn (Chairman of the Board) is such a generous benefactor then why did he not pay HMRC the money AFCB owed? (Taxpayers money)[/bold]
If Mostyn had paid we would not have gone into administration, lost ten points and now are in Div 2!
Mostyn could have held off the other creditors until the end of season and then decide to go into administration, we would then still be in Div 1 and have all season to pull back 10 deducted points.
Was our future mapped out long ago and resulted in the club being worth a lot less for purchase???
