Bids could join forces
HOPES: Jeff Mostyn
HOPES: Jeff Mostyn

CURRENT chairman Jeff Mostyn has confirmed his interest in taking Cherries out of administration - and could join forces with his rival bidder.

Administrator Gerald Krasner has given the two parties until noon today to firm up their interest by lodging a non-refundable £100,000 deposit.

However, the deadline may have to be extended to allow Mostyn to continue talks with representatives of the second consortium.

Although Mostyn and Steve Sly were always thought to be keen to re-purchase the club, their interest only became official over the weekend.

The identity of the main investor in the second consortium is still unknown, although the AFC Bournemouth supporters' trust is understood to have an involvement.

News of a possible alliance is the latest twist in an ongoing takeover battle, which has been fraught with problems since the club entered administration nearly three months ago.

Mostyn told the Daily Echo: "I am really determined to go forward. I will be talking to the administrator to see where we are going.

"I have also had talks with the other people and maybe something could come out of a combination of the two.

"Monday's deadline is probably a little too soon for that to happen but somebody has got to get a bid in that is acceptable to the administrator, otherwise there won't be a football club."

Mostyn has already experienced his fair share of setbacks in his attempts to regain control of the club, with a consortium involving him, Sly and Marc Jackson collapsing due to "contractual reasons" last month.

He was also expected to join forces with EU-UK, although their bid was withdrawn after they had been unable to agree extension terms with Krasner to carry out further due diligence.

Speaking immediately after Cherries' 1-0 win over Crewe on Saturday, Mostyn said: "My emotions could not be more extreme. I am absolutely committed to the football club and the players are mirroring my own passions.

"But I don't know from one minute to the next whether I'm in with a chance of taking the club forward and whether I've got an opportunity of my bid being successful."

Mostyn added: "I share the players' passions and it makes me even more determined to be part of the football club going forward.

"But then I get setbacks off the field with people who are committing themselves to me not fulfilling their promises and leaving me exposed. I do not want to give up what I consider to be my football club."

Give the man some credit. He may have made a bucketful of mistakes during his chairmanship, but I for one cannot down his genuine passion and desire to make something happen for AFCB.

That said a lot of people have made a lot of noise over the last few weeks, now it's time for doing something and not turning back.

Quite, all talk and no trousers from the usual suspects - now is the time to show the same genuine desire and commitment as the players and stop all the self-promoting cobblers.

Haven't we been here before with Mostyn - it's all smoke and mirrors. What we need is someone who can take the club forward, not just preside over its slow decline!

Looks like more delaying tactics and believe me Anastasis I agree with you that there has been a lot of noise from so called bidders including Mostyn and nothing has materialised. I dont think Mostyn will ever take this Club forward or not for long anyway As for the mystery bidder it alarms me (if true) that the Supporters Trust are throwing their hat in with them not because they have done so but because there is still a chance that the Mostyn lot will win so do they know something that is making them back the rival.
Mostyn may have a genuine reason for keeping bidding but lets not be fooled that if he gets it its the Start of the Bright future he keeps promising. Its far from that . The Players and even Bond have done their bit so Jeff and Mystery Persons Either PUT UP OR SHUT UP

I would be alarmed if People kept doing that to me JM Perhaps their is a problem closer to home trust maybe

If we had lost on Saturday, this would all be sorted today.

Obviously it's a lot cheaper to purchase a struggling League 2 club that it is to purchase a struggling League 1 club....why pay more than you have to!
Posted by: fritter, boscombe on 9:42am Mon 28 Apr 08
It's not a stitch up. At least I don't believe it to be. The process is a delicate one. Negotiations take time, I would rather this was done properly than rushed. I'm not sure the result Saturday had any influence, the agreements to be negotiated and ends to be tied still have to happen regardles of what division we are in.

I don't think GK's gun to the head approach is helping, still a big chunk of the extra £100,000 must have come in through the gate on Saturday? I look forward to GK announcing this.

Surely he didn't think this would be quick and easy, earn a couple of hundred thousands of Ks and get out did he?

I go with the posts from cherry and brock and roll.If we had lost on Saturday, there has to be a chance of investors walking. They will be looking for good gates. They would getter better gates playing Saints than Rochdale.More worrying is the rumour that Vokes has been sold for £200,000
, to enable us to get through to friday. Has anyone heard this one, seems to be gathering pace, any one know?

Agreed and I suppose you cant really blame them . But isnt it ironic that there are proberbly 2 potential Chairman out there hoping and praying we get relagated to keep the cost down. I wonder what the financial difference of purchase is

Only heard what the papers are saying Aston Villa and Newcastle are said to be offering 250k for him and say he is leaving in the Summer. Whoever is buying the Club should cough up the 100k today so that they can at least get the money back by selling Vokes . My personal view is that he will definatly go if we get relagated and proberbly still go if we dont bearing in mind that JM was prepared to sell him to Crewe earlier in the Season . I think it depends on and will say a lot about the objectives of the new owners if we keep Vokes or not. I hope any new board show commitment to the future by keeping players like that who after all will increase in value but of course it depends on how much money they really have Just a view

a couple of points to me it seems a good idea for both consortiums to join forces more money then available, the mystery consortium it has been rumoured want to buy back the ground and heavily invest in the club but as previous comments have stated i think it will all swing on next weekends result

i just wish mr mostyn had been as proactive with his fund raising pre administration as he is now maybe this whole saga could have been avoided!

Doubt it....my wife was out on the town in Lymo on Sat night and talked with Sam's mum - she had only just realised that he had scored. Mind you they were both half cut.

I still think the Vokes situation is pretty clear. If we stay up we have a chance of keeping him for another season. If we go down, he will go - and who can blame him? He is on the verge of making the full Wales squad - playing the likes of Accrington Stanley in a really poor Div 2 would harm his career.

Of course Sam has dropped a big hint about where he wants to go next season when he said that Alan Shearer was his hero!

The trouble is that Mostyn has always said that he has been trying to get new investors right from the time he took over The reality is that pre and during administration they have never materialised. I dont think he has the support he makes out he has otherwise why did he fail to get the investors that he said were there to actually invest and why did his original bid collapse . I just hope that whoever gets the Club will run it for the benifit of the Club !!!

I can see the attraction of going to Newcastle for both parties.

From Newcastle's perspective they will be getting a replacement for Amiobi for a fraction of the wage cost.

From Sam's persepective he will get the chance to work with Owen, Shearer, Keegan etc - what a dream! And the real bonus for him is that with Owen reaching the tail-end of his Premiership career, and often prone to injury niggles, Sam get get his chance sooner rather than later. I am sure he would fit into Newcastle's style much easier than at Villa.

Jeff and Steve are really keen to keep control of the club, and they have a real passion, but passion is not enough, for the club to survive there needs to be some very significant investment, unless they attract new partners then who have the funds needed, then they will struggle to make this club work, inaddition they need to repair some of the numerous bridges they have broken during their tenure, they have really turned off some very long and loyal sponsors and fans by their attitude. Clubs like Bournemouth depend on the goodwill factor, we are a small club who needs the support of the local business community, dont be fooled by some of the self promotion at the last two home games Jeff and Steve are not top of the popularity stakes, but they could be if they can change their manner in how they deal with sponsors and supporters alike. They have made a significant commitment since they took over but under their control they have significantly reduced the infrastructure of the club and have lost some very experienced people in the process, they have also alienated some big sponsors, and they really need to address this aspect should they get control. For our club to be successful we all need to work together for far too long there has been to many factions, so Jeff/Steve you will need to clear out the broadroom bring in new faces, get rid of the baggage and there is plenty, and galvanise everyone to work together good luck

When will people realise, there's no milionaire white knight waiting to take club over. Twice now, when bids to take club over failed, others were able to get club competition free. No one has come up with the goods.
A joint Mostyn/ Supporters Trust bid is a good idea, it will ensure fans continue to have say in the club. Most importantly, people who care will run the club, not dodgy fly by night so called businessmen.
We will still be broke, but maybe this time, the club can be run properly

yes it is time the small clubs made a stand against the "stealing" of players from the lower divisions. If they can afford to pay millions for foreigners then theu can give us a good price for our home talent. If Krazner is supposed to be getting the best deal for us then he should be laughing at being offered such a derisory amount for Sam. Come on premier league stop taking the p***

Where are you getting this about Vokes from? I have checked every forum and sports site I can think of and no one is saying anything, it is not just you picking up on what Krasner said last week is it? anyway there is a press conference tomorrow and whats the betting Sam being sold is not the subject of it.

I totally agree with Richard and Scottie here, these top clubs forget their roots and are happy just to rob the minnow clubs down on their knees. can't this go to arbitation so a reasonable figure is agreed? By reasonable I mean more then two weeks of John Terry's wages!!!!

I am afraid its just plain business. Like selling your house, its only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I only one club wants to buy and we need to sell then the price will be low. If 3 or 4 clubs come in for him then of course we will get a better price.

If you want to find the background to the on/off/on Vokes transfer to Newcastle, check out the local newcastle press web sites.

It is very clear that Mostyn has not got the money to buy the club and is tugging on everyone else’s shoe laces.
If Mostyn cannot afford to purchase the club by himself, then he should stand aside.
If Mostyn had not put us in administration we would not have lost 10 points and not be in the position we are now. He could have put us in administration at the end of the league year but he could not wait which shows he has no money.

Litigation will follow I am sure.

The only 'man' thing about Mostyn is he is a shrewd Business 'man' and will make DC in DC Gardens in no time.
If you want to save our club then wake up and smell the coffee.
Mostyn has only been going to the club for a short while so how can you call him a genuine supporter when he puts us in administration and we lose 10 points?
May I suggest that if we went into Div 2 the club would be worth a lot less and perhaps that is what some 'businessman’ would hope would happen so they could buy the club for peanuts after losing us 10 points, and I bet they are hoping we will lose Saturday for their own financial gain.
Bl**dy hell there are so many naïve people about, I just can’t believe it.

Whilst I dont support a conspiracy theroy there is no doubt mostyn, sly and schofield do not want to let go of the club, and never have done, they are desparate to stay in control, the statement in the echo by mostyn its my club, said it all. At the end of the day it is not his club, as he did not have a share holding, but morally he put a lot of money in, so I understand the sentiment, but ego and sentiment will not help, if Mostyn and his group are to take over they must have the funds to take the club forward, mind you I suspect he does have the access to the funds but is trying to drive the price down. Certainly he does not act like a Chairman who wants to let go. But they are not top of the popularity stakes, and they so need to build some bridges with supporters and sponsors alike if they dont this may well yet go horribly wrong for the club.

So you don't think the club was 5 days from liquidation then, oh and the board had to vote on taking the club into administration, which everyone and their dog have said was the best thing the club could do, but don't let any of that cloud your judgment. Also what would Highcliffe or the Tory party have to do with AFCB? The taxman has not been paid because of administration, plus we had the protection of the courts which the board applied for whilst they tried to prevent the club going into administration, if you recall it was the HMRC that forced their hand. The sad thing is they are arguing over nothing, because they have both made valid points.

I doubt Mostyn has the money to buy the club AND make the investment required. Each and every one of his bids/consortia has fallen apart at the last minute. If he the money and the bid stood up to scrutiny the deal would have been done and dusted ages ago.

I'm not sure the difference in price between League 1 and League 2 is going to be that much, it's more a case of how strong the non-footballing side of the business is that will determine the price. Getting the catering and club shop back in-house will increase the club's value.

As to administration, we had no choice HMRC were sniffing round ready to pounce and they did file a winding up petition which only failed because our third intention of administration petition was filed in a different court.

Get it right I am not arguing over anything, all I asked was what about the taxman, not arguments at all, I can't help it if someone then wants to see that as an insult, I would rather ask that than start calling people names, I leave that for others, but the question is still a valid one, where would we be now if the Board had not voted for us to go into administration, in all likelihood liquidated, and as to Mostyn, that argument has been going on since January so is it really that big an issue that it has to be bought up every other thread, surely it's time to let that one go, so once again no arguments from me I am only giving the facts which are there for us all to see.

What do you honestly think you will achieve by your remarks Mole, what good are they doing for the club, and where does it say that Mostyn has bought the club yet, yet again it's all hot air, nothing has been concluded yet, come on give it up until you actually know what is happening, these comments on here about wanting the club to get relegated etc are nothing short of libelous, you really need to think about what you are saying sometimes.
Attitude Tory Boy attitude!!!!!
For the sake of everyone Mole please give it a rest now would you.!!!

If Mostyn cannot afford to purchase the club by himself, then he should stand aside. If Mostyn had not put us in administration we would not have lost 10 points and not be in the position we are now. He could have put us in administration at the end of the league year but he could not wait which shows he has no money. Litigation will follow I am sure.
are you Mole by name and Mole by nature, climbing out of your hole and cause as much havoc as possible, I think we have all heard your point of view which you are entitled to, but we do not need it rammed down our throats at every opportunity, give the man a chance and be grateful that someone is trying to save our club
Bl**dy hell there are so many naïve people about, I just can’t believe it.
at no time did I suggest he was a guenuine supporter, and indeed I would question whether you are indeed one of those, at least he has shown enough interest to try and do something to save the club, many of us shout about it but not having enough cash can do nothing but hope someone will step in, if that is Jeff Mostyn A.N.Other or even the Honey Monster I will say thankyou and do what I can to put us on the right road, what I will not do is to keep shouting how everything that does not please me is bad for us, so please Mole you have had your say we have all seen it more than once, now disappear for a while

I personaly found having Little and Large on the pitch disgusing on Saturday. They have failed and should have the good grace to go. They have had no effect on the lads on the pitch performances, but hang to their coat tails like a bad smell. remind me of the Spice Girls 'Wannabe' song.

Has anyone heard this one, seems to be gathering pace, any one know?
Where are you getting this about Vokes from? I have checked every forum and sports site I can think of and no one is saying anything, it is not just you picking up on what Krasner said last week is it? anyway there is a press conference tomorrow and whats the betting Sam being sold is not the subject of it.
It was just an article in one of the Sundays nothing of ant substance yet.

It is only £10 on the coach via bournemouthbuzz.com a local news website. This offer for a tenner is also all over the Cherries chat sites.

Mole. You are Keith Agar, football's answer to euthanasia.
How long have you lived in Dorset and supported the Cherries?
Who is your latest millionaire suckup? Has he investigated your past? Chris Swann is it? I bet he hasn't. I must send him a mail. I'll have to be HONEST as he must know the TRUTH.
Mwah mwah mwah.

Joint Administrator Gerald Krasner has called a press conference for Tuesday April 29th at 11.30am.

The press conference will take place at Dean Court and Krasner will be giving an update to the media on the Administration process at AFC Bournemouth with news on the latest developments.

The club would also like to thank Richard Kingham of Parkcrest Construction and Chris Emmins of Bournemouth Buzz for sponsoring four coaches ahead of Cherries` vital League One clash at Carlisle United. Their sponsorship means fans can purchase travel club tickets for just £10, but once the four coaches are filled, the prices will revert back to their original cost for any additional coaches.

Over 500 tickets have already been sold to Cherries fans for the match with 300 more arriving from Carlisle tomorrow. A number of these have already been reserved. If these tickets sell out in advance of Saturday and Bournemouth are unable to get any more to sell before the match, fans without tickets will have to pay on the day for the away terrace that can hold 1700 away fans.
