CHAIRMAN Jeff Mostyn has agreed to meet an influential Cherries fans' group after his new-look consortium was urged to "break its silence".

The AFC Bournemouth supporters' trust, which owns a significant shareholding in the club, issued a statement asking Mostyn to "resume communication" with them.

Mostyn and Steve Sly have both come in for strong criticism after being accused of starving fans of information during their troubled reign.

But after having their bid to take the club out of administration accepted in principle last week, Mostyn has now said he would be prepared to meet trust officials.

Mostyn told the Daily Echo last night: "I fully understand the concerns expressed by the supporters' trust and have indeed had dialogue with Derek Timoney (the trust's vice-chairman) this morning.

"The intention is to get together at the earliest opportunity to have open dialogue and to restore a relationship with them that will benefit the football club going forward. I recognise the need to work closely with all the supporters and to get their support."

According to their website, the supporters' trust aims to "work together in safeguarding a professional football club in Bournemouth and to give supporters, through the supporters' trust, a greater say in how the club is run".

And their statement, issued earlier this week, read: "AFC Bournemouth supporters' trust have already made clear their disappointment at the sudden refusal by Jeff Mostyn and Steve Sly to engage in open debate on a number of issues prior to administration. We believe that whoever takes the club forward has to do so with the backing of all supporters.

"Following the news that Jeff and Steve are in line to take on ownership of the club, the trust acknowledges that it needs to work effectively with whomever is in charge.

"The trust believe that this consortium now has an opportunity to restore talks.

"We call on the consortium to break its silence and resume communication. The trust would like to know what plans the new board has for the football club and what plans the board has to engage with the supporters and one of their representative groups, namely the supporters' trust."

Meanwhile, the Playershare raffle has been reinstated, subject to certain conditions, following discussions with administrator Gerald Krasner.
