Cherries: Chairman Mitchell is coy about Redknapp link

CHAIRMAN Eddie Mitchell is refusing to be drawn about suggestions Harry Redknapp could take charge of Cherries - even if just on a caretaker basis.

The npower League One club are looking for a new manager after parting company with Paul Groves and his assistant Shaun Brooks yesterday.

It came less than 24 hours after the 3-1 defeat to Crawley which sent the Cherries fifth from bottom, with just one win from 10 League games.

Former Tottenham boss Redknapp recently returned to the south-coast club - where he began his career in management in 1983 - in an advisory role.

Redknapp and former manager Eddie Howe, now at Burnley, are the early bookmaker favourites for the job.

But when asked whether Redknapp could take caretaker charge for Saturday's trip to Coventry, Mitchell told Hot Radio: ''We've spoken about the football club and the best way forward and Harry knows my feelings but I can't say much more than that.

''Harry is his own man and he's got the capability to manage at a club much higher than a League One club, but that's where we are at the moment.''

If old wobbly head managed to get the cherries up a league and then threatening for promotion to the premier league then how could the F.A. ever ignore him for any future England position.
Unfortunately our old mate arry could never move any football team forward without shedloads of cash.Bournemouth are not that team and if he was to take it on I would be even more nervous for the future of bournemouth.
Remember this ain't the arry from 20 years ago.

A manage can only spend the cash the board gives him.
.
Directors bankrup football clubs, not managers.

Quite obviously Mitchell has asked Harry to come back and manage the club full time, but failing that he's hoping he will do it for a few weeks on a temporary basis and hope he enjoys it so much that he decides to stay!
I know Harry is more than capable of managing a bigger club than AFCB, but perhaps he should take into consideration that he's not a young manager anymore, he'd be close to home every day except away days and top Premier League jobs are few and far between!
Come on 'arry you know it makes sense!

I hope Max Demin has asked Redknapp to come into the AFCB setup as a prelude to ridding us of Mitchell and his cohorts.
