Howe top of Cherries' managerial wish-list
9:29pm Wednesday 3rd October 2012 in Cherries News
Exclusive By Neil Perrett
FORMER manager Eddie Howe is believed to have emerged as Cherries’ preferred candidate to succeed Paul Groves, the Daily Echo understands.
Sources close to the Echo suggest Cherries could be on the verge of making an official approach for the 34-year-old in the next few days.
Howe was immediately installed as the bookmakers’ favourite after Groves had been relieved of his duties by Cherries this morning.
He is currently in charge of Championship outfit Burnley, having departed Dean Court to take over at Turf Moor in January 2011.
Howe made his first steps into management with Cherries and his immediate impact helped the Dorset club complete a miraculous relegation escape. In his first full season at the helm, Howe then masterminded Cherries’ promotion back to League One.

Let's hope he's had enough of life in Burnley. Not the brightest spot in Lancashire

Unfortunatly he will be inheriting a squad that he knows nothing about, so I would expect a longer time to turn things around ,the same as any other new manager;in short don`t expect miracles from EH any more than anyone else could perform.

I hope this not getting forgotten amidst all of the excitement. We can't move forward until this dodgy DoF position is resolved!

This would be absolutely brilliant if true but sadly I think this is dream world. Why would Eddie return to work with Mitchell after all that happened before.

It would be fantastic to have Eddie back. It can't be easy for a football manager with a young family and being far away from parents.

You may have a little bit of cash now but come on, add a little bit of realism into the debate, how many managers drop down a league (Except to so-called bigger clubs, a la Simon Grayson).
Burnley are an established Championship club and there is no way that Eddie is coming back - unless of course we draw you in the cup.

So, let's forget Eddie Howe and concentrate on finding someone else capable of turning the club around from the mess it's currently in. Harry Redknapp doesn't want the job as he still covets a job in the Premier League. My choice would be someone like Mick McCarthy, Billy Davies or Roy Keane or even better Alan Curbishley or Steve Coppell. I don't think Glen Hoddle is right for the job or Graeme Souness and definitely not Steve Cotterill please!
Eddie Mitchell will ignore all of us though as usual, so expect to see David James & Steve Fletcher given the job on a temporary basis.... and then given five year contracts when they win their first game in December sometime.
