Cherries: Groves closes in on development coach appointment

PAUL Groves has confirmed he has held talks with candidates for Cherries’ development coach vacancy as he looks to put the finishing touches to his backroom team.

The Cherries manager is hoping to recruit somebody to oversee the club’s new development squad in time for the start of pre-season.

He is imminently set to have discussions with further contenders for the job.

The position is the last one Groves is looking to fill as part of his new-look backroom staff.

Groves told the Daily Echo: “The development coach is one role we haven’t filled and it is a role we feel is vitally important and one we feel we need to make sure we get the right person for.

“We have spoken to one or two people and will speak to more people as well to make sure we do get that right person.”

Groves, meanwhile, labelled Ross Embleton a “good addition” after naming him as Cherries’ new youth team boss.

The 30-year-old’s arrival followed the appointment of Dennis Rofe as the club’s first-team coach.

Groves had already drafted in head of sports science Dan Hodges and performance analyst Garvan Stewart.

Thought that I had heard that John Donoghue late of Dorchester Town and the Saints Academy had joined the Cherries to undertake this role.

What happened to yesterdays Head of Youth Emberton? we have an army of coached now and to think of the results that Joe got with half the number! and a fraction of the cost.

Emberton is The Yuuth Team Manager, there is a difference, you will find that the Head of Youth was in Joe's day done by Derek Old, so there are no more coaches now than ever before......... and the results of the current youth team is not bad, a few debuts for youth team players and many around the first team set up, they need some time to be able to show the results. Joe was excellent, judge these guys over the same time period.
