STEVE Sly, on behalf of the Cherries board, has tonight released the following statement to the club’s official website and the Daily Echo.

“Following recent speculation surrounding the club’s position in relation to its inherited Football League embargo, the Board of AFC Bournemouth would like to bring the fans up to date with the current position as we understand it.

Following Jeff Mostyn’s (vice-chairman) recent meeting with the Football League at their offices in Preston, the board received a comprehensive list of requirements that would hopefully satisfy the Football League in order for the embargo to be lifted. We can confirm that the Football League have received a bundle package fulfilling their requested requirements.

“On Wednesday, July 29 2009 the club received further correspondence from the Football League’s solicitor seeking further clarification on a few of the points initially raised.

“The board can confirm that today, July 30 2009, they have addressed these points raised and should be in a position to submit these further requirements to the league by Monday, August 3 2009.

“The board feel confident that they will have fulfilled all of the requirements as set out by the Football League to date and would hope that a positive decision will be reached by the Football League’s board.

“We are doing our utmost to support Eddie Howe through this difficult period and are in daily dialogue with him. We are also making significant progress in all other areas of the day-to-day running of the business.

“You, the supporters, will be the first to know when we have a more positive update and finally while we applaud the Echo in their latest initiative to lobby the Football League on the club’s behalf, the acid test will be the Football League’s receipt of the requested information. That alone will be the only thing of interest to them at this moment in time.”
