CHERRIES trio Aaron Ramsdale, Lloyd Kelly and Sam Surridge all featured to help England under-21s hammer Austria 5-1 in a European qualifier.

Goalkeeper Ramsdale and defender Kelly both played 90 minutes during the clash in Milton Keynes, while striker Surridge, who is currently on loan at Swansea, came off the bench with four minutes remaining to replace Eddie Nketiah.

Victory put England top of qualifying Group Three with maximum points from their opening trio of fixtures.

They are ahead of Austria on goal difference, having played a game less.

Boss Aidy Boothroyd said: "It was a terrific performance.

“The result was great because we needed it, if we hadn't got anything it would have meant a big gap for us to close (to Austria).

"We played terrific stuff against a really good team."

Elsewhere, Gavin Kilkenny came off the bench for the final 15 minutes of Republic of Ireland under-21s’ 1-0 defeat to Iceland in Group One.

The Boys In Green remain top of the table by one point but have played a game more than second-placed Iceland.

At senior level, Cherries midfielder Jefferson Lerma played 90 minutes during Colombia’s 3-0 friendly defeat to Algeria in France.

Riyad Mahrez netted twice for the victors. Lerma was cautioned for a foul on 78 minutes.

Joshua King played the full game as Norway sealed a point in Euro 2020 qualifying Group F.

Crystal Palace's Alexander Sorloth scored late for the Norwegians against Romania to seal a 1-1 draw in Budapest.

Mark Travers and Philip Billing were unused substitutes for Republic of Ireland and Denmark respectively.

Travers’s Ireland lost 2-0 to Switzerland in Group D, while Billing’s Denmark beat Luxembourg 4-0 in a friendly.

Denmark and Ireland – the top two in the group, face off in a crucial encounter at Aviva Stadium on November 18.
