GOAL hero Ryan Fraser identified Cherries' fast start against Swansea as the key to ending a tough run of results.

The flying winger netted the only goal in Cherries' penultimate game of the Premier League season on Saturday.

Fraser was picked out from a free-kick by Andrew Surman after he found himself in space on the edge of the penalty area.

The 24-year-old's first-time strike took a nick off the head of defender Alfie Mawson and flew beyond goalkeeper Lukas Fabianski.

Fraser admitted it had been important to start on the front foot after the disappointing defeat at Southampton.

He told the Daily Echo: "It was poor last week but our performance this week got the crowd up.

"If we had started poorly, which we didn't, it could have been a long afternoon, especially in the sun.

"We started well and got the crowd up for it. I thought we played a real part in that.

"We could have scored so many goals in the first half. We couldn't really finish our chances but the performance was so much better than in recent weeks.

"We never score early nowadays, we always leave it late. In the past couple of seasons we always scored early."
