NATHAN Ake admitted Cherries had “lost focus” at the death in their dramatic 1-1 draw at Leicester City.

The Dutch defender was part of a valiant rearguard effort which kept the Foxes at bay for 96 minutes at King Power Stadium.

But the 23-year-old admitted to concede from Riyad Mahrez’s free-kick seven minutes into added time had been "stupid” after Joshua King’s first-half penalty had put Cherries ahead.

He told the Daily Echo: “Players like Mahrez can always do something but, in the end, we lost focus.

“The whole team defended so well for the whole game and to give it away in the last minute like that was stupid and it hurt.

“It was hard to take, you want to do well and the team fought so well.

“In the last minute we just had to try to keep it out, we did it for the whole game so why not one minute longer?”

Former Chelsea star Ake added: “If we had won that game we would have had 35 points and created a bit of a gap.

"Now it is still close. We are doing well and got another point on the road but when you are that close you want all three.”
