JUBILANT boss Eddie Howe presided over another famous victory for Cherries and then hailed it as the club's best during his tenure.

Goals from Callum Wilson, Junior Stanislas and Nathan Ake saw Cherries stun Premier League champions Chelsea 3-0 at Stamford Bridge last night.

The trio all netted in the space of 16 second-half minutes as Cherries climbed to 10th place after repeating their win against the Londoners from December 2015.

It saw Cherries extend to six games their unbeaten run in the top flight – matching their previous best – and followed wins over Everton and an historic first triumph against Arsenal.

The Gunners (13), the Toffees (9) and the Blues (6) have won the English top-flight title no fewer than 28 times between them.

And having also lowered the colours of Leicester last season, Cherries have now beaten the reigning Premier League champions in each of their first three seasons.

Asked by the Daily Echo where he had rated the victory in his time as manager, Howe replied: "It was the best because of the performance.

"When we won here in our first season in the Premier League, it was a great performance, a great night and an historic moment for us but we were backs to the wall, they peppered our goal and we rode our luck at times.

"There wasn't any luck connected with this result and it was a very strong performance. It was the best performance we have had at this level and the result matched it.

"It could be a huge moment for us this season. Full credit to the players because this is a really tough place to come and Chelsea are an outstanding team.

"We defended very well and attacked with purpose. The shape and balance of the team were very good so compliments to all the players for how they performed.

"As the goals went in, it was just a case of keeping calm and making sure we defended well because we know the quality Chelsea have. They could have come back at any stage so we were delighted to win."

Speaking at his post-match press conference, Howe also fielded questions relating to Chelsea's weaknesses and their vulnerability.

And asked if he had expected more from Chelsea after they had gone 3-0 behind, he replied: "I think that's easy to say but I think you have to compliment my players.

"I am not going to criticise Chelsea at all, I am just going to compliment my team – the way we defended, the way we battled and the work rate were excellent.

"We were determined to keep clean sheet. We hadn't had one for a long time (12 games) so to achieve that at a place like this was even more satisfying.

"Our game plan was good. If you look at Chelsea's attack, it is outstanding with outstanding individuals but I thought our defence marshalled them very well and our goalkeeper made a couple of good saves when called upon.

"We came out in the second half and scored three great goals. They were big turning points in the match.

"We didn't expect to score three goals. You come here and just want to take something from the game.

"We were unbeaten in five games and just wanted to keep the run going. You try to pick up points in every game and you know how difficult that can be.

"To win and to win by the margin we did was not something we were expecting but it was something we were certainly very proud of."
