DAN Gosling revealed how he and David Moyes had “moved on” from their sour break-up at Everton.

The Cherries midfielder left Moyes’s Toffees in controversial circumstances seven and a half years ago, the 20-year-old joining Newcastle on a free transfer after the Goodison club failed to offer him a new deal.

With the duo likely to meet face-to-face when Cherries visit West Ham tomorrow (3pm), Gosling insisted there would be no “personal battle”.

Gosling told the Daily Echo: “He signed me as a kid and took a gamble on me, so I will always appreciate that.

“He gave me my Premier League debut away to Middlesbrough and I felt I did well.

“It was a shame how things were left but we have both moved on now. We shook each other’s hand last time.

“If people held grudges in football you would never speak to anyone – we are fine.

“We had a difference of opinion at the time and I had an injury which put a spanner in the works.

“I don’t really have a personal battle with him. He’s not on the pitch – I wish he was! It will be nice to see him and we have both moved on.”

Moyes has guided the Hammers to 11th in the Premier League table since replacing Slaven Bilic in November.

The former Preston, Manchester United and Real Sociedad manager has won five of his 15 games in charge of the London club.

“A lot of people probably wrote him off but he is so experienced in the Premier League,” added Gosling.

“He is up there with one of the best managers I have had. He had Everton flying when I was there, we got to the cup final and the chairman gave him a lot of time.

“It was unfortunate at Manchester United, maybe it wasn’t quite the right timing and he didn’t really inherit a great squad.

“He looks like he has turned the corner with West Ham, he has a few boys back onside and a few working hard for him.

“They seem really well organised now and that is probably the main difference he has brought in, with a bit of structure.”

Gosling scored when Cherries and West Ham fought out a dramatic 3-3 draw on Boxing Day.

He was left out of the squad for Cherries’ 3-0 FA Cup third-round replay exit at Wigan but started the previous top-flight fixture, a 2-1 win over Arsenal.

“We need to start winning back-to-back games,” added the former Plymouth youngster.

“One bad result with other sides winning and you are back down there.

“Arsenal was a huge lift and a huge positive for us. It gave us great confidence and, hopefully, we can carry that on.”

Victory would see Eddie Howe’s men leapfrog the Hammers in the table.

A solitary strike from Michail Antonio gave West Ham a 1-0 victory when the sides last met at London Stadium.
